The Arkansas Activities Association recently announced new conference alignment for the 2018-2020 cycle and the Bearcats and Ladycats will be on the move from the 7-4A back to the 4-4A conference. This move is a move from south to north and will place the Cats back in a conference with some familiar foes as well as new opponents.
This change is primarily a change for football conference play. Other sports will have some differing conference alignment depending on the sport. The decision about how spring sports leagues will be aligned is yet to be determined.
The new football league beginning in the fall of 2018 will be: Dardanelle, Dover, Elkins, Mena, Ozark, Pottsville, Subiaco, and Waldron. Most of these are holdovers from Mena’s previous stint in the 4-4A with the exception of newcomers Elkins and Ozark.
