The Mena boys’ golf team have every reason to be a little cocky. After all, the Bearcats have won every tournament they have competed in this season, including the 7-4A District Meet Tuesday, September 19 at the Mountain Ranch Golf Club in Fairfield Bay. “It felt good to win the district championship, but it was kind of expected,” Mena junior Daniel Davis said. “Not to sound cocky, but we have won every single tournament this year. “Looking back it has been a fun year because we have met all of our expectations so far,” Davis continued. “At the beginning of the year we said we were going to go undefeated all the way to state and we have done that.” Mena won the district meet with a score of 243, which was 20 strokes fewer than second place Fountain Lake. Mena hopes to continue that trend when they take part in the Class 4A State Meet Tuesday, October 3 at the Red Apple Inn and Country Club in Heber Springs. Davis was the medalist at the district meet with a score of 73, after teammate Austin Johnston, a sophomore, had been the medalist at every tournament up until that point.
